Sealife Underwater Camera For Kids

By Dave Barty

A number of cameras have already been developed for children as young as three to take up photography. These cameras have to be developed to be easy to make use of and able to resist the active life a child leads, such as being water and shock proof.

The Kid Tough is a digital camera with two-eye viewing, making it easier for children to look through the viewfinder. It has dual hand grips for taking a steady shot, and big buttons, which are easy to push. It features a rubberized body to protect it when dropped and it's waterproof to protect against spills and splashes. The digital camera is equipped with a built-in auto flash along with a color LCD preview screen to let children see instantly the photo they have taken.

The digital camera has 64 MB of internal memory, which could store as much as 500 photos and can be hooked up to a computer to transfer and print the photos, by way of a USB cable. The Kid Tough runs on four AAA batteries and is suggested for kids from the age of 3 and older.

The Kiddizoom is rubberized to protect against being dropped by a careless kid as well as waterproof to the point exactly where it could even survive being submerged; it will still take photos. The 2-megapixel camera even comes with 3 games included on it to help keep children amused. It's got photography and video capability and also the 16 MB of memory can store 200 pictures or five minutes of video. It has a built in digital photo editor so children can play with their photos and two interchangeable faceplates for variety.

Able to be used by both adults and children the Z33 is a 10-megapixel camera created for outside use. It's able to take the wear and tear of use by kids, or by adventurous adults, as it is made to resist the elements. It is water-resistant to 3 meters deeps and has a smooth grip shape for ease of holding. The big rubber buttons are easy to push and the camera also features Scene Recognition Auto, which recognizes the setting you are taking the photo in and adjusts the exposure accordingly. It has an LCD display that you can inspect the photos with immediately after taking them and there's also a 3x optical zoom for closer imaging.

At around $300 as of February 2011, this camera is more pricey but fitted to extreme under water conditions. It has a 2.7-inch LCD display and is crushproof to around 200 to 220 pounds. It features a mechanism that helps prevent dirt and foreign particles from entering and damaging it. It could be dropped from a height, put through a car wash and taken to depth with out scratching it. Maybe more of a toy for adults, it could stand up to most traumas that a kid could put it through making it another option as a digital camera for kids.
